A drip coffee maker consists of several essential components that work together to brew coffee.
Components
Water Reservoir: This is where cold water is poured before brewing. The size of the reservoir is one of the variables which determines the maximum amount of coffee that can be brewed at one time.
Filter Basket: This holds the coffee grounds. A paper filter or a reusable mesh filter is placed in the basket to keep the grounds separated from the brewed coffee.
Heating Element: This heats the water to the optimal temperature.
Showerhead: The heated water is distributed over the coffee grounds through a showerhead, which is used to help ensure that the coffee grounds are evenly saturated during the brewing process.
Carafe: The brewed coffee drips typically into a carafe, which is usually made of glass or thermal insulated material.
Hot Plate: Many drip coffee makers have a hot plate to keep the brewed coffee warm.
